Whelan’s long standing presence in the regional construction industry has provided the company with a vast array of experience on wide ranging projects. Primarily specialising in industrial and commercial developments, the firm boasts a number of awards to its name in recognition of its innovation and premium building standards.  

A family cultured firm, Whelan has a unique way of operating and works very closely with its stakeholders and suppliers to develop strong relationships – many of which span over 15 years. With a team of dedicated personnel, many of which have 15-30 years service, Whelan boasts one of the lowest staff turnovers in the industry and a strong knowledge base.

In 2006 the company went on to secure a series of high profile projects; more ambitious building work, greater value schemes, new clients and a further foray into its "own name" developments followed. In-house training enabled improvements to the company’s value chain and as Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) were rolled out, Whelan went from a "good" to a "great" construction firm.  

Continuing to beat off national competition to win regional work, the company went one step further to notch up a string of prestigious industry awards. Both the construction industry and the business community recognised Whelan’s achievements – acknowledgment that Whelan is not only a leader in its own market, but a shining example of good practice to all sectors. 

2007 saw the dawning of a major new era in the companies history with the relocation to Patrick House – Whelan’s own purpose built state of the art headquarters marked a huge departure from its old premises and presented a much larger, modern facility with a whole raft of new resources.
